Study Shows Americans Spend Millions on Costumes for Pets

Best Dressed this Halloween Goes to... Your Pet!

What’s more important than making sure your pet has the best costume for Halloween? Apparently nothing, because Americans now take it quite seriously in comparison to past years.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans spend $490 million on Halloween costumes for their cats, dogs and other pets. That’s more than double the amount people spend on their furry friends since 2010. What can we say? We like to dress our pets to impress. And we can’t help but take cute pictures of them to add on our social media. In fact, social media has sparked many costume ideas for pets. Check out statistics from the National Retail Federation, which shows just how much online content inspires Americans to dress up their critters.

You might also be wondering what the most popular costumes are for pets. On top of the list is a pumpkin and a hot dog, following a superhero (because all pets have rescued us many times) and a bumblebee. See what other costumes made the list below.

Now the question is, what will you be dressing your pet as this Halloween? Whatever you decide, we're sure they'll look adorable.
